Misc TV Thoughts…

Apr-15-2008 By tyralyn

The finale for Biggest Loser is tomorrow. YAY. I’m ready for that to end. I hope one of the women ends up winning. It’d be a nice change, since it’s always been men that win.

Hell’s Kitchen has started again. I love me some Gordon Ramsay. This season is interesting so far. I don’t really like anyone yet. So, yeah. We’ll see if anyone starts to stand out.

American Idol is going strong. I was pretty pissed with this week. I don’t care that they did an elimination this week, they didn’t have any sort of reason not to like they did last year. However, I didn’t like Ryan’s comments. The way he did the announcement was quite rude and unprofessional, imho. I wasn’t happy that Michael left, either, since he was one of my top 6 picks. I still prefer the men this season. We’ll see how that goes.

Big Brother is almost over too. I don’t really care much. I watch it on eviction night and Sunday if nothing else is on. They’re having BB10 this summer still, not sure I care. They’re gonna hafta spice it up a lot for me to care. The drama from this season turned me off.

Tila Tequila is doing A Shot At Love 2. Yet more proof that these ‘dating’ shows are a setup from the beginning. I don’t think the guys/girls that are vying for someone celebrity realize it until it’s too late. I mean, Flava Flav has had 3 “Flavor of Love” seasons now, right? I know of at least 2. I think it’s on the 3rd. Tila is on her second, Brett Michaels “Rock of Love” is on it’s second incarnation. “I Love New York” had at least 2 go ’rounds. So yeah, I call them a big set up. Will I watch Tila? Sure, she’s hot. I like seeing her in next to nothing. ;)

Dancing With The Stars hasn’t really made me care about it yet. Kristy Yamagucchi is doing well, so is Marlee Matlin. I watch the performances, don’t really watch elimination much, just long enough to see who leaves.

Celebrity Fit Club amuses me. Same shit, different season since they brought back 4 from previous. Dustin Diamond is th biggest prick in the history of that show. He makes threats against Harvey, threatens to get the show shut down. He’s just a real piece of work. I guess, watching some of the old episodes of Saved By The Bell, that it’s not really surprising that he’s such a jerkoff. Seems like he took his role as the beat up geek to heart.

The Apprentice: Celebrity is over. I didn’t like the ending. I didn’t think it was overly fair. But eh, it’s over with. We’ll see what Trump can come up with next. Bring back the best of the non-hires for an All-Star show? That’d be fun.

Top Chef has also started. No favorites there either. A few stand out, but it’s still quite early there. We’ll see what the future holds with them as well.

And that, is the TV update. Peace.

Reality Updates

Feb-19-2008 By tyralyn

Okay, so I haven’t written any sort of Reality show update in a while. So here we go!

What am I watching? Biggest Loser, Project Runway, Celebrity Rehab, The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition, Gone Country and Big Brother.

Biggest Loser is interesting this season, since they’re playing in teams, but are now down far enough that they’re breaking up the teams. They’ve had more of a competitive air about the season. I don’t care for that, since it’s supposed to be more about the weight loss and less about the game. It’s not been as good as it has in the past, but at least they’re getting healthy in the process.

Project Runway is down to the final 4. Yeah, I said 4. Usually it gets down to three, then go home to design their collection for Bryant Park. However, this season they sent home 4 people and one will be eliminated prior to Bryant Park. I wasn’t surprised by most of the 4, they worked hard and did well. I am, however, surprised that Chris March is still there after having been eliminated earlier in the season. He returned after an HIV positive contestant had to leave the show the week after March’s elimination. It’s been a season of interesting challenges and some really wild designs, including a new ‘costume’ for a set of WWE Divas. I definitely can’t wait to see what the final collections will be, since there’s a wide array of personalities left.

Celebrity Rehab is interesting, to say the least. It’s full of drama and really hard to watch at times. It’s not so much of a reality show as a VH1 Documentary, but it has the same impact. Dr Drew Pinsky has stars like former American Idol contestant Jessica Sierra and Grease and Taxi star Jeff Conaway in a rehab center in California for detox and learning how to live clean and sober. Daniel Baldwin was one of the first who entered the rehab, but has since left, stating that it was no longer an “environment conducive to his sobriety.” The fact came out, after his departure, that he was text messaging one of the other patients asking her for nude photos. Conaway has been a whole different story altogether. He has been nothing but drama, having come in with drugs on him, coming in high and drunk to the point he had to be rushed to a hospital. He’s partially wheelchair bound and uses the pain he’s in as an excuse for his behavior. It’s definitely been interesting to watch what new excuses the celebrities can come up with.

The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition has been yet another show filled with melodrama and mayhem. The cast, which I’ve written about previously So far, they have lost Nadia Comaneci, Tiffany Fallon, Jennie Finch, Nely Galan, Gene Simmons due to task losses. Vincent Pastore has also left the show, due to an inability to get along with fellow contestant Piers Morgan. He’s been quite the dramatic, causing tension with, not only Pastore, but also with Omarosa and Stephen Baldwin. Baldwin was to the point of wanting to leave the show, but was given the option of changing teams and chose that instead. The surprise of the season, to me, has been Trace Adkins. He has been very low-key and always comes up with ideas when he’s needed the most. For a hillbilly, he has more of a head on his shoulders than a lot of businessmen do. Lennox Lewis has also been a surprise. You would expect the fighters to be rough and gruff, but Lennox is a very gentle soul, a peacemaker and has been trying to keep the peace with his team. Tito, as well, is not as rough and gruff as one would expect. I wasn’t expecting much out of the celebrities, since most of them have a charmed life, but they’ve surprised me, pleasantly and I’m definitely looking foward to seeing where this season ends up.
