LJ Idol: I believe…

Mar-14-2007 By tyralyn

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People come and go in our lives for a reason. Everyone has a purpose in life and we cross each others paths for a reason. I believe that most things do not just happen at random, that there is some predestined reason for them. I do also believe that there is no reason for some things, however. Things like freak work accidents, or traffic accidents, things that couldn’t be expected. A sudden illness or death without an illness.

For instance, we are born into the circumstances that we are born into, be it a rich family, or poor family, an abusive family, a loving family, for a reason. We are born into the situation that will teach us the most lessons for later on in life. Being born into the family that I was born into taught me to appreciate what I have, as well as how not to handle money. Why was I taught this? I don’t know yet, but I do believe that it will eventually pan out and show itself.

I believe that someone who is born into a family with abuse of some sort, be it physical abuse, verbal abuse or just neglect, is being taught how not to be when they are older with their own family. I know that they say that abuse breeds abuse, and in some cases it does, but I think that is a smaller percentage than everyone believes. How can anyone say just how much abuse there truly is in the world, since there are quite a few cases that never get reported, never get spoken of, sometimes never even remembered.

I believe that the people who are brought into and out of my life are brought into it and taken out of it for a reason. I believe that they have a purpose, be it to teach a lesson or show me something, but there is a reason. As much as it pains me to think it, everyone who has left my life has also left for a predestined reason. Every ex-boyfriend that I have was brought into my life to teach me something. Thankfully, they were taken out of my life for a reason as well and I did learn a lesson from each of them.

So yes, I believe that everything happens for a reason, good or bad.

Sad

They imploded one of the oldest casino’s on the Las Vegas Strip after Midnight Tuesday. It makes me sad, really, to hear and to see the video. It’s amazing how much that city changes so quickly. Farewell, Stardust.

I fully admit that my sappy ass shed a tear when I watched this the first time.

Ok, so

I normally don’t post about my ‘day’ any more, but then again, it’s usually stupidly boring. Today was slightly different, though. I lurk and read the local Freecycle lists, offer stuff that we replace if it’s still worth using and someone else would want it. Pay it forward, so to speak. Anyway, I saw a listing for a laptop bag, so I responded to the listing and went, “I wonder if that’s the same person..” Well, I didn’t hear back on it, so I went on, assuming someone else got it. Well, I got email yesterday, saying the original person was a no-show, so it was mine if I still wanted it. So, I made arrangements to go meet her and pick it up this afternoon.

We had a couple other things that we needed to do, so we ended up with a late start, which was alright, we totally flipped things around and went to meet her first instead of last. Anyway, we headed off and went to the end of the earth. Not really, but it could be. We got to our destination before the other party did, which is okay with me, we waited for her to get home and admired the area where she lives. It’s secluded and quiet, and really nice. When she arrived and got out of her car, I was quite happy to see that it was the person I thought it was. So not only did I get a laptop bag, I got to reconnect with an old friend. :)
It was like nothing had changed, really. She and I got to chit chat for a little bit, I got to meet her little girl and even got to find out what one of my former classmates is up to and find out that the rumor about him is not true. She got to meet Rob as well, so that was nice. Unfortunately, her man is shy and didn’t want to come out to say hi, but I don’t think I blame him, really. Even though I do know him from school as well. Hopefully now that we’ve reconnected, we can at least email back and forth a bit, it was really nice talking to her today. :)
After we left, we had a couple other things that we had to get done, so we headed off to take care of that stuff. It was an absolutely PERFECT day, weather wise. It finally warmed up to the point that it seemed like spring, which is good for me, since I *hate* going out in the cold. I actually ended up coat-less by the time I got home, that’s how nice it was.

I have a few other things I want to post about, but I’m not using this post, this is a happy post. :)
