Wanna Talk Ugly? Lets Talk Uniforms!

Oct-31-2007 By tyralyn

One of the reasons that sports are fun to watch is the uniforms. It’s how you can identify who is who, even if you don’t understand the game completely. Now, take a look at these uniforms and tell me, would you want to root for any of these teams?

Can you imagine being on one of those teams? The horror of being a hockey player stuck in a horrifyingly ugly black, orange and yellow Can you imagine how horrible the morale would be every time you stepped into the locker room to put your uniform on for a game? I know I sure wouldn’t.

I can’t fathom some of the clashing combinations that I’ve seen in the past. Imagine walking out onto the football field sporting various combinations of green, black and yellow. Would you play for that team? Not sure I’d even want to show up for the game.

Can you imagine if sports today if they had the same uniforms? Would we want to root for teams with ugly uniforms? Would they even show up for the games? Thankfully, for both the players and the fans, uniforms are a far sight better than they were a decade ago.

What team do you think has the ugliest uniform in sports today?

NaNoWriMo Thoughts

First of all, Happy Halloween! Being as it’s Halloween, that means Midnight is not only the witching hour, but it is the start of NaNoWriMo. I have an idea of what I want to write and how I want to start, but it changes every time I start thinking. I tend to over think things, but once I get into it, I should be fine. At least I hope that’s the case.

I have a blog set up for posting excerpts on, but it will not be syndicated to LJ. I don’t really plan on leaving it up after NaNo. If you’re interested in reading along, let me know and I’ll be glad to pass along the addy. I have a definite title in mind. Not the one I posted originally, but I’m happy with it none-the-less. The title is now: Ruby and the Hunter.

I have a 3 bags of peanut butter M&M’s, I have candy corn, I have water. I need soda Friday, then I should be set.. for a few days at least. ;)

Singer Robert Goulet Dies at 73

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Robert Goulet, the handsome, big-voiced baritone whose Broadway debut in “Camelot” launched an award-winning stage and recording career, has died. He was 73.

The singer died Tuesday morning in a Los Angeles hospital while awaiting a lung transplant, said Goulet spokesman Norm Johnson.

He had been awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis.

Happy!

Oct-29-2007 By tyralyn

So I had my doctor’s appointment today. It was a good day. :) I’ve lost a significant amount of weight since I was there in May. I’m happy as hell about that. If I can keep it up, in 6 months from now, I’ll weigh less than I have in 15 years. That fact in and of itself makes me happy. She and I talked about my back, confirmed what I’ve known for a few years already. But, she’s not going to bother trying to do anything about it until I lose a significant amount more of weight.

While I was there, I saw my Mama! Her name is Linda and when I was in high school, she was like a second mother to me. She knew how much shit I put up with in school, since she was a school employee. I was always able to talk to her about the things that I couldn’t talk to my own parents about. We talked at least once a week after I graduated school, then once a month when I was going to college. Unfortunately, she’s not been well the last few years and we haven’t been able to catch up unless we cross paths somewhere. Ironically, I was thinking about her last night and wondering how she was. I got to chat with her while we waited to be seen, then while I was waiting for my blood draw, I got to chat up her husband. So it was a lovely way to pass time at the doctor’s office.

After the blood draw, we decided to head to the grocery store instead of going home. I spent far more than I intended to. That’s alright, though. I got 2 bottles of Olive oil for the price of 1.

But yeah, I’m a happy girl right now. And it’s only 2 more days until NaNo. I know what I’m wanting to write, but not sure if it’ll come out the way I want it to. Guess we’ll see.

I finally ended my boycott of Wegman’s.
I *heart* their bakery department.

Real post when I get home, maybe.

I’m actually going to a HS football game.
A playoff game at that! Shocking.

I’m out.

Got A Truck? Get It Lined

Oct-24-2007 By tyralyn

If you’ve shopped for a vehicle, especially a pick-up truck, you know the cost is skyrocketing every year. So if you’re going to shell out multiple thousands of dollars for a truck, don’t you want to protect it so that it lasts a long time? If you think that you’re protecting your truck by keeping it clean and being careful, then you probably don’t realize how much a truck bed liner can protect your truck. Not only does it protect the bed from scratches, but it protects it from the weather, from things being spilled along with the scratches. A truck bed liner can keep your truck bed in good shape for the lifetime of the truck, especially if you’re using it a lot to haul things.

In years past, truck bed liners were cumbersome, slippery, hard to install and had to be bolted down, leaving behind holes in the bed and it didn’t really protect the bed from rust. Now? Everything is prefabricated to snap together, making it easy to take it in and out if the occasion arises. They are skid resistant, making it easier to haul loads without them sliding around and they even come with a lifetime warranty.

Who wouldn’t want to give truck bed liners a second look? Protect your investment by protecting the bed of your truck.

Wow.

October is vanishing faster than I expected it to. NaNoWriMo starts in just over a week. I have my idea fairly solid in my head. I haven’t written out my cast of characters yet, though, and I really need to get down to it. The title is solidly Ruby and the Hunter, at least until I get into it and see what comes. I do love the title and it suits the basic plot that is forming in my head.

The remainder of this week is going to end up being either crazy busy or crazy slow and boring. Rob has yet another visit to the eye doctor Thursday afternoon. It’s starting to get old now, thanks. Especially since his insurance doesn’t cover it all. Most of the follow-ups are covered, but the surgeries are only about half covered. Friday is payday and I have a couple things that I want to do. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and let me do what I wanna do. Saturday there is nothing on tap, unless there’s a home football game, then we might go to that. Sunday will likely be laundry day, then Monday I have my doctor’s appointment, which is in and of itself another post all together.

I’ve had a lot of things on my mind lately, ghosts of my past, in a way. It’s hard for me to write about them though. Maybe I will sometime, but not today, that’s for sure. Not to be cryptic, I’ll give you a basic idea of what’s on my mind.. reading a post from when Sakka saw her Uncle, it really took me back 9 years and brought back a lot of unresolved feelings. But yeah, there’s things going around in my brain that I need to resolve.

Anyway, time to get back to working on a few more articles before NaNo starts and I never want to write again. ;) Hope everyone is having a great day.
