Evel Knievel Dies at 69

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Evel Knievel, the hard-living motorcycle daredevil whose exploits made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.

Knievel’s death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29, 2007
(AP) Rodney King, whose videotaped police beating in 1991 led to deadly rioting when the officers involved were acquitted, was shot on a street corner, but his wounds were not life-threatening, police said.

King, 42, was shot two or three times from a distance by birdshot fired from a shotgun. He then bicycled about 1½ miles back to his home in neighboring Rialto and called police. King was hit in the face, arms, back and torso, police said.

Since Rob is working morning shifts again, I can make evening plans. This rocks for this coming weekend since they’re having Decemburr To Rememburr. It should prove to be an cute little event. They plan on having a parade of lights, caroling, a tree-lighting and fireworks. I think this is the second year they’ve done it, but I’m not sure.

Snowball hunt? That seems really odd to me, but I think it’ll be a cute, fun, kitschy event. Which is kind of odd for me, usually I’m anti-social as all get out, especially when it comes to “hometown” events. I even have loose plans of going to the Christmas concert this year. This is something that I haven’t done since I was *in* the concerts.

I don’t know why, but I feel the draw to go. I know part of it is because it’s going to be the final Christmas concert for my favorite Chorus director. I was sad when I read that he and one of the art teachers were resigning at the end of the year. We’ll see if I actually go to either of the events.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Hulk Hogan’s wife said in a divorce petition that she wants a share of the family’s two multimillion-dollar Florida properties plus alimony and child support for their 17-year-old son.

Linda Bollea filed for divorce from Hogan — whose real name is Terry Bollea — last week after 24 years of marriage. The petition says the marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
