Little Known Facts

Apr-4-2008 By tyralyn

One of the little known facts about me is that I love pens. So much so that I have been tempted, on more than one occasion, to buy my own customized ink pens to give to people. I don’t really need them, but I have a hard time not buying new ones when I see them. I stay out of the stationary section of stores because I just can not stop.

So yeah, if you want to give me something that’s cute and kitschy, a pen will work well.

Thoughts Of Home

One of the things that I remember about home when I was growing up is that we never, ever had blinds on the windows. We always had roller shades instead. I never really understood why people would want blinds that had openings in them. Shades were awesome, in my opinion. They blocked the light far better than anything else could have. It wasn’t until we moved out of the house that we switched to blinds. I still don’t like them.

HD Radio and iTunes

Everything seems to be going HD lately. Or that’s what it feels like. First it was high definition television, now it’s high definition radio that’s the latest trend. All you need is a new stereo for your car. You get all your same great radio stations, plus you get new radio stations without a subscription fee.

What does this have to do with iTunes? With iTunes Tagging you can hit the tag button on your new stereo and it sends the song information to your iPod so that you can keep track of songs that you want for later. I know that I’ve often heard songs on the radio and wished I could remember them later. Well, having an iTunes Tagging enabled radio and an iPod, you’ll never have to fight to find the song again.

This is a fantastic feature for anyone who loves music, but has a bit of a memory sieve when it comes to remembering titles and artists. Isn’t it time you upgraded your car stereo?

A little of this and that

I’ve been on such a reading spree. I’ve finished multiple books in the last week. It’s crazy. I should be crocheting on the princess blanket so that I can get it done. I just haven’t made the time to do it. I slept through my usual Sunday crochet time cuz I felt like dirt.

I have New Moon sitting here on my desk. I’ve been tempted to start it, but I know that when I do, I won’t want to put it down. I had things I wanted to get done, but I never got to them. Blah. I also had promised someone I’d be around tonight so we could chat and that didn’t happen either. I’ll have to leave her a message and apologize.

I have to get my butt in gear in the AM and get my stuff done. When Rob gets home, we need to go do a couple things, like pick up his glasses finally. I also want to get a few things at the store while I’m out. I need to get some breakfasty stuff. Preferably healthy. I also need milk.

I made the best dinner tonight, I swear. I made ravioli lasagna. It was really simple and so good. There was almost no leftovers, which is unusual. There’s usually a half a pan of lasagna left. Cook and drain your ravioli, I used giant round cheese ones, prepare your sauce of choice. My sauce of choice is Hunts Roasted Garlic. Get your cheese and any meat if you want it. I used a Pizza blend of mozzarella and provolone cheese and some pepperoni that I had gotten to make pizza. Layer it like you would your lasagna. Bake for about an hour at 350 until the cheese is melted and brown. I made a 9X13 pan and there was only one large piece left by the time leftovers were put away. We all picked at it all night.

I remember when I hated the idea of cooking, but now I love it. I even made my own pizza a couple weeks ago. I didn’t even use store bought dough either. :) I enjoy cooking, really. It’s fun. I just wish I could bake. Seriously, that’s one skill that escapes me. I can make an ‘okay’ loaf of bread in the bread machine, but beyond that, if it requires the oven, forget it. I can make muffins (most of the time) in my muffin machine. If it comes from a box mix, I do alright, but scratch baking? Forget it.

Anyway, it’s after 2am and I meant to be in bed an hour ago. Oh well, guess I’ll finish this off and read til Rob gets up for work, since it’d be stupid to go to bed now and wake him up this early.
