Okay, I am not a real big boxing fan, but there is so much hype over an upcoming match that it’s not even funny. Most people already know about the May 5, 2007 match between Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya. It was the single most lucrative boxing match in history, bringing in over $120 Million in revenue.

Not just that, the tickets for the first match sold out three hours after they went on sale, shattering the record for ticket revenue set by the Holyfield/Lewis fight in 1999. If that wasn’t enough, there was plenty of controversy surrounding the match, when it came to Mayweather’s estranged father training De La Hoya for the fight. It never really came to be a problem, since Mayweather Sr demanded a large sum of money that De La Hoya was not willing to pay for a trainer.

If that wasn’t enough drama for the fight, the fight itself was worth the watch, even the large buildup put out by HBO prior to the fight that were aired in the weeks prior to the fight. The fight even came down to the final judges scores to determine the winner with two judges having Mayweather the winner and one for De La Hoya.

This is definitely a rematch that is worth keeping an eye on. If you’re going to be in Las Vegas on September 20th, 2008 and you love boxing, look into getting yourself the De La Hoya/Mayweather tickets as soon as you can.

Whee!

What a quiet weekend, so far. We went and got Rob’s glasses yesterday. I really like them. They’re progressive transition lenses and am considering getting myself a pair when I get new ones. We got caught out in the rain, though. When we got home, my sister was here. She was on her way out, since she had to be back home by 4 to return the rental car. I spent much of the evening doing stuff away from the computer.

Unfortunately, I never fell asleep until after 4am and it sucked. This also meant that I never woke until after noon. Well, no I woke at 9, groaned, went back to sleep. I got up and did the daily reboot. *stabs AVG* Then went to read more of New Moon. After Rob got home from work, I read the paper and decided we’d support the local VFW since we hadn’t in quite a while. So, off we went to do that and on the way back home, we stopped off at the convenience store to get something to drink.

I’m glad we stopped cuz as I was walking towards the register, this guy walked past me and said “Hello, Margaret.” I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around cuz I did not have the first clue who the hell it was. He asked if I remembered him and I actually admitted that I didn’t have the first clue. So he told me his name and I nearly fell over. I did not recognize one of the few guys that I went to school with that I could more than tolerate. I got major hugs out of him, which was REALLY nice, even though I’ll be the talk of the town since the town gossip was watching. Stupid small town. ;) It was really nice to see him again and it was definitely nice to get hugs from him.

Tonight, I shall listen be listening to Journeys With Rebecca and working on figuring out what I want to offer as my next blinkie. I think I know what I’ll offer, but I’m not sure yet. We’ll see how they turn out. After that, I shall read until I pass out.

I love music of all sorts, but Country music is my favorite genre. I grew up on Country music and that’s what I keep coming back to when I find music. Now, I don’t keep up on the newest music and really only hear new stuff when I’m listening to the radio in the car. What I’d like to get is a new High Definition radio that has the iTunes tagging capability.

With high definition, I can hear all kinds of new country music stations and if I hear a song I really like and want to remember, iTunes tagging allows me to safe the song information to my iPod for looking up later.

how great is that? Especially if I’m somewhere other than my home state. Different states have different musical rotations. For instance, Florida High Definition Radio stations play different things than the New York radio stations do. So if I’m not home and hear a new song, as long as there’s a High Def. stereo with the tagging ability, I can keep track of the songs I hear and want to keep hearing.
